Mather, Cotton (1663-1728) a puritan preacher wrote an early paper saying doctors should study mental causes of physical disease.
Lavoisier, Antoine (1743-1794) the “Father of Nutrition”.
Hahnemann, Dr. Samuel (1755-1843) discovered and developed Homeopathic Medicine.
Babcock, Dr. Stephen (1843-1931) studied fats.
Ehret, Arnold (1866-1922) a health educator who promoted Naturopathy, Vitalism, and the importance of alkalinization.
Price, Dr. Weston A. (1870-1948) dentist who traveled the world to study the benefits of traditional diets.
Schweitzer, Dr. Albert (1875-1965) a medical missionary to Africa who taught reverence for life.
Cayce, Dr. Edgar (1877-1945) called “the Sleeping Prophet” and the father of holistic medicine.

Funk, Casimir (1884-1967) named vitamins.
Caisse, Rene (1888-1978), a Canadian nurse, shared an Ojibway herbal remedy for cancer (Essiac) with the world.
Bragg, Dr. Paul (1895-1976) advocated deep breathing, water fasts, and organic foods for health.
Bogart, Frances M. Shotts, operated the Health Food Haven health food store in Kansas City, Missouri, with her daughter, Betty Ann Craft (1925-2015). On Mar. 13, 1975, she was admitted to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment of head wounds from an attack. She refused a glucose I.V. The doctors were amazed at how fast she recovered.
Carson, Rachel Louise (1907-1964), wrote “Silent Spring” which changed the way we look at DDT and inspired the need for the Environmental Protection Agency.
Budwig, Johanna (1908-2003) early on popularized the benefit of flax oil and promoted a flax seed and cottage cheese diet.
Wigmore, Ann (1909-1994) taught us the value of wheat grass juice and vegetable sprouts.
Lalanne, Jack (1914-2011) popularized healthy eating and exercise. A song entitled “Nature Boy” was written about him and was sung by Nat King Cole.
Cousins, Norman (1915-1990) journalist who wrote a book entitled “Anatomy of an Illness” about how he cured his own ‘incurable’ disease.
Green, Dr. Elmer (1917-????) and Alyce Green helped develop EEG and biofeedback.
Norris, Dr. Patricia PhD, psychologist who wrote a book on how biofeedback can cure cancer. (Daughter of Elmer and Alyce Green.) With a patient she wrote a book “I Choose Life; Harnessing the Healing Power of the Human Spirit”.
Clark, Dr. Hulda (1928-2011) publicized the connection between parasitic disease and cancer.
Siegal, Dr. Bernie (1932) surgeon who promoted mental approach to the treatment of cancer.
Folkman, Dr. Judah, MD, (1933-2008) pioneered research on blood vessel growth that has proven to be of benefit to those with cancer, macular degeneration and other diseases.
